Newton Nexus

Newton Nexus was originally built in the 1950s and was one of the first industrial parks in the nation. Over the years the site has been home to well-known companies such as Polaroid and, more recently, TripAdvisor.

Located on Needham Street in Newton, Massachusetts, the Newton Nexus adaptive reuse project transformed the former industrial area into a vibrant mixed-use corridor.

One of the client’s goals was to preserve the history of the site while forging a new identity. To encourage sustainability and preserve natural resources, we repurposed existing buildings and used a mix of reclaimed wood and new steel to blend elements of the past with the present.

The HFA team worked with the client to develop a masterplan and vision for the project. Every good project starts with a great story and the HFA design team captured the client’s vision. Our team of architects, structural, and mechanical engineers and worked seamlessly together to ensure the project goals and clients vision was properly executed.
