Project Info
This multi-site infrastructure upgrade program replaced more than 30 critical systems across Mercy facilities in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri. The work included replacement of aging infrastructure for chillers, cooling towers, boilers, generators, air handling units, and heat exchangers. All projects were fully commissioned. Close coordination with the owner, contractor, commissioning agent, and design team was required, as each facility remained operational during equipment changeouts. A key challenge was determining how to allocate scope effectively within financial constraints. Upgrades were prioritized based on their ability to deliver measurable energy efficiency gains. Targeted investments in Building Automation Systems (BAS) supported long-term sustainability goals and improved cybersecurity protections. The improvements were designed to reduce energy use, improve resilience, and modernize system controls. The program received the 2022 AEE Region IV Energy Project of the Year award. * Experience prior to joining HFA.
